Car Auctions?

I would like to buy a car at one of those auctions where the city auctions the cars that were reposesed and they are trying to get rid of them .. Where can I sing up for one of these auctions?

Public Comments

  1. first off, the city does not auction reposessed cars. Reposessed cars belong to the banks. They sell them at dealer auctions, and occasionally at public sale. The only auctions held by governments are either their own vehciles (ex-cop cars, city water trucks, etc) and cars seized by the police as evidence. Check your main police station's public information officer for that. Also look into auctions at tow yards. People dont pay the impound fees to get cars out. Those cars are sold to satisfy the bill to the tow yard
  2. If it is a city auction, you do not have to sign up for them. Generally they have to be posted in the newspaper, but not always. Towing companies also have auctions and you can check with them also. The impound cars are frequently good buys because quite a few of them were impounded for no insurance & are driveable - may have no key, but locksmiths often show up at the sales. If you want to buy salvage cars (and some clear title ones) Insurance Auto Auctions has locations in most states. In our state it cost us $250 a year & we can buy from other states as well and on the internet. They have a website you can check out. Some of their sales are dealer only, but not all of them. you can get some late model stuff to fix from them.
